VILLAGE OF BLOOMINGDALE
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
March 4, 2008 

A special meeting for opening of lagoon test well bids was called to order by President Ewbank at 7:00 P.M. Roll Call:  Present - Barczak, H Van Horn, Rawlings, Ewbank, & Clerk Strong. Absent:  B. Van Horn, Noble, Miller, & Treasurer Jacobsen.

Also in attendance: DPW Burleson , Tom Rock, Ed Sullivan, Nick Rankin, Glen Nordbrock, Matt Davis, Jon Hermann, Brain Rice,& Jim Lisowski.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

A question about the criteria used to select firms from whom bids would be solicited was answered by President Ewbank. Criteria used were to check the yellow pages, some firms contacted the Village, the school and other villages were also provided names. 

BIDS RECEIVED:

Fleis & Vandenbrink - $4,625 which included one testing event. The Village would be responsible for the cost of materials for wells… plus DPW labor. The representative verbally said if his firm was selected and asked to perform the work without DPW labor or Village well supplies the price would increase for labor at an additional $450 and for well supplies another additional $450. There was no verbal commitment on cost of additional sample testing.

Wrightman Environmental - $5,100 for the entire project. Additional sample testing events, if required, would be performed by Wrightman at $500 per event.

Prien & Newhof - $5,600 without any sample testing included.

Jones & Henry - $5947 without any sample testing

Villa Environmental Consultants - $5025 without any sample testing.

Motion by Rawlings, support by Barczak to remove from consideration the bids of Prien & Newhof, Jones & Henry, & Villa Environmental Consultants. Voice Vote – All Ayes, Motion carried.

No further action was taken.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

The Council was encouraged by the public to check the references supplied by the remaining 2 firms.
